What You'll Do

• Provide high-quality nursing care for adult patients in a step-down (PCU) setting.
• Monitor and respond to patient vital signs, IV therapy, and titratable medications such as Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Neo, and Levophed (manager approval may be needed for some meds).
• Assist with managing complex patients including stroke, cardiac, trauma, and surgical cases.
• Utilize EMR (Meditech Expanse) for charting and medication dispensing (Pyxis).
• Support patient care through collaboration with charge nurses, resource nurses, RTs, hospitalists, and therapy teams.
• Manage patient ratios: RN 1:3, CNA 1:7; floating units include Stroke and MedSurg.
• Pass an EKG competency exam prior to start.
• Assist with other clinical responsibilities such as chest tube management, tracheostomy care, lumbar drains (preferred), and inpatient procedures.

Schedule Details :

• Night shifts on a 5/2 schedule, alternating weekends.
• Every other week: 4 days (including weekends) for one group, 3 days for the other.
• Up to 7 days of requested time off with notice; more than 7 days requires extension of the contract.
• Will work 2/3 holidays.

What You Need

• Active RN license in State
• BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Certification
• Minimum 2 years of relevant acute care RN experience; first-time travelers require 2 years of perm staff RN experience
• Ability to pass an EKG competency exam
• Strong clinical skills in patient assessment, medication management, and critical thinking
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
