Job Title: 3rd Shift QC Chemist (Bulk Chemist I) Job Description

The 3rd Shift QC Chemist (Bulk Chemist I) performs physical and analytical testing on in-process bulk materials in a laboratory environment. This role prepares lab batch adjustments, conducts wet chemistry analyses, and approves both in-process batch adjustments and finished bulk products, ensuring they meet all quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

• Promote a safe working environment and strictly adhere to Health, Safety and Environmental procedures, company safety rules, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP/GLD), current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times.
• Perform physical tests on in-process bulk materials, including viscosity, pH, specific gravity, and organoleptic evaluations.
• Review and approve batch adjustments for in-process bulk products based on laboratory test results.
• Approve and release finished bulk products after completing required physical testing and confirming compliance with specifications.
• Perform a variety of analytical methods using an auto-titrator and wet chemistry techniques following USP or customer-specified methods.
• Conduct color-matching analysis using a color analyzer to ensure products meet required color standards.
• Measure particle size on in-process products using a particle size analyzer or microscope.
• Prepare laboratory batches according to adjustment instructions and issue batch adjustment information to compounding teams.
• Analyze manufacturing facility water using a TOC (Total Organic Carbon) analyzer to verify water quality.
• Prepare and standardize reagent solutions for use in routine and special testing.
• Evaluate and approve line start-up finished product samples before full-scale production runs.
• Perform full finished goods testing according to customer specifications and quality requirements.
• Perform calibration checks for laboratory instruments to ensure they are functional, accurate, and within calibration limits.
• Ensure the Bulk Laboratory remains compliant with Health, Safety and Environmental procedures, company safety rules, GLP/GLD, cGMP, and SOPs, including housekeeping and sanitation standards.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work area in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices, cGMP, and SOPs.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with management on testing results, issues, and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Make suggestions for process, quality, or efficiency improvements within the laboratory and production support functions.
• Multi-task and follow through on multiple project assignments, adjusting priorities as needed to meet job requirements.
• Quickly identify and remedy procedural problems related to testing, documentation, or instrumentation.
• Provide good interpersonal and customer service support to internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Perform related functions and duties as assigned to support the overall quality control operation.

• Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in Quality Control, preferably in an analytical field.
• High school education or equivalent.
• Bachelor of Science degree, with a preference for a major in Chemistry.
• Hands-on experience with analytical chemistry and wet chemistry techniques.
• Ability to perform and interpret physical tests including viscosity, pH, specific gravity, and organoleptic assessments.
• Experience with batch adjustment and bulk release processes in a manufacturing or laboratory setting.
• Proficiency in working with and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation, including auto-titrators, color analyzers, particle size analyzers, microscopes, and TOC analyzers.
• Strong understanding and practical application of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP/GLD), Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Knowledge of quality control principles and documentation practices, including GDP (Good Documentation Practices).
• Ability to prepare and standardize reagent solutions accurately.
• Good English communication skills, including speaking, reading, and writing.
• Good time-management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Ability to multi-task and follow through on project assignments.
• Ability to quickly identify and resolve procedural problems.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.

• Advanced PC knowledge, including experience with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), is preferred.
• Flexibility to work long hours during peak seasons or special schedules as needed to meet job requirements.
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work area in compliance with GLP/GLD, cGMP, and SOPs.
• Demonstrated ability to make suggestions for process and quality improvements.
• Experience communicating and collaborating with management on laboratory operations and quality initiatives.

This position operates in a laboratory environment with proper lighting and ventilation. The noise level is generally low to moderate. Work involves routine use of laboratory instruments such as auto-titrators, color analyzers, particle size analyzers, microscopes, and TOC analyzers, as well as computers and standard office software. The role requires adherence to established safety procedures, GLP/GLD, cGMP, and SOPs, including maintaining a clean, sanitary, and organized work area. The position is on 3rd shift and may require flexibility to work extended hours during peak seasons or special schedules to meet operational and quality control needs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chatsworth, CA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
