Sapphire Nursing at Wappingers is actively seeking to hire a Per Diem  Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) . The ideal candidate will be a professional, compassionate and outgoing individual who will provide direct rehab care in occupational therapy to patients under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT). We are looking for a committed and patient-focused COTA to assist in the development, recovery and maintenance of daily living and work skills of people with physical, mental or developmental conditions. You will offer effective and client-centered services that will enable people to confidently and independently carry out the everyday tasks and activities.

Requirements:

• Executes established patient treatment plans under the direction of an OTR.
• Communicates with patient, families, referring physicians, and other members of the team.
• Provides timely written documentation as required by insurance provider to meet licensing, certification, regulatory, reimbursement requirements.
• Develops and enhances clinical and professional skills through knowledge and professional associations.
• Supports and participates in department operations and development.
• Reports any changes in patient status or needs to supervising therapist on a timely basis.
• Prepares and submits patient charges accurately to provide appropriate billing information.
• Uses professional judgment to ensure safety of self, patients, and others at all times.
• Achieves quality patient care through interdisciplinary communication.
• Attends required meetings as designed by the Director of Rehab and/or Supervisor.
• Effectively communicates with therapists concerning patients’ response to treatment
• Attends in-services, training sessions or other educational presentations.
• Coordinates treatment goals with other team members.
• Meets or exceeds the productivity standards as established with Supervisor.
• Maintains valid licensure, certification or equivalent as requested by appropriate state agency.
• Maintains awareness of patient and community needs, conditions, and programs.

Qualifications:

·         Associate's degree from an accredited COTA program.

·         Able to practice unencumbered.

·         In good standing with all regulatory agencies and New York State licensing boards.

·         Full knowledge of resident’s rights.

·         Exudes professionalism in presentation.

·         Portrays positive attitude for peers, patients and community.

·         Must be able to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English.

·         CPR certification.
