Supervisory Personnel Security Specialist

Summary The selectee serves as a Supervisory Personnel Security Specialist, directing a team that initiates and tracks pre-employment investigations for court security officer applicants and other support personnel. The position determines suitability and security clearance eligibility of applicants and support personnel for entry into USMS contract positions. This position is located in the Judicial Security Division / Arlington, Virginia. Responsibilities As a Supervisory Personnel Security Specialist at the GS-0080-14 grade level, some of your typical work assignments may include, but are not limited to, the following: Supervising a team of personnel security specialists including evaluating performance, conducting interviews, and resolving complaints. Initiating and tracking pre-employment investigations of applicants and determining suitability and security clearance eligibility of the applicants and support personnel for entry into USMS contract positions. Advising and assisting USMS managers on background and suitability program matters. Develops short and long range plans for the management of human material resources to achieve program objectives. Attends meetings with and senior level officials within USMS, DOJ, and other federal agencies to inform and stay abreast of matters regarding personnel security. To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, you must meet the following: Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. You must have at least one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing the following duties: Providing technical and procedural advice regarding background or suitability investigations to personnel security specialists, managers, or support staff; Evaluating program performance related to personnel security policies and/or procedures for effectiveness; Coordinating with related security program offices to achieve comprehensive organizational security goals and objectives; AND Investigating applicants and determining suitability and security clearance eligibility of personnel or contract positions When citing your education and/or experience, be clear and specific.
