Associate Extension Agent, 4-H Youth Development - Carroll County

4‑H Youth Development Agent – Carroll County, Virginia Responsible for leading the local 4‑H program, developing and delivering research‑based, hands‑on educational experiences that build leadership, citizenship, and life skills for youth in Carroll County. Responsibilities Develop and deliver objective, research‑based educational programs to meet the needs of diverse audiences. Specify program goals and objectives, identify required resources, and provide leadership for 4‑H Youth Development programs. Recruit, train, support, and manage volunteers to implement educational programming. Determine unit program needs by monitoring trends, conducting unit assessments involving the Extension Leadership Council and other leadership committees. Network and build coalitions with other agencies, organizations, and institutions to address youth and family issues. Coordinate day‑to‑day activities and events associated with the 4‑H program including community clubs, project clubs, school enrichment, after‑school, special‑interest clubs, and 4‑H camping. Ensure compliance with Virginia Cooperative Extension civil rights and equal opportunity policies. Required Qualifications Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) in a relevant discipline from an accredited college or university. Master’s degree and promotion to Extension Agent required within six years of employment. Knowledge and experience in planning, conducting, and evaluating extension or non‑formal education programs. Ability to conduct community needs assessments to determine program priorities. Understanding of child and human development. Excellent communication skills. Basic knowledge of educational technologies and appropriate use in educational program delivery. Program marketing skills. Knowledge and willingness to involve and manage volunteers in program development and delivery. Expectation that duties will be completed in‑person with few exceptions for telework. Flexibility, adaptability, team‑oriented mindset, and strong desire to help clients succeed. Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree. Employment Details Appointment Type: Regular Overtime Status: Exempt – Not eligible for overtime Salary: $50,000 - $65,000 annually Hours per week: Varies Benefits Graduate tuition waiver.
