Staff Nurse Specialty Care

Job Title: Staff Nurse Specialty Care Profession: Nursing Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day General OR Hours per Shift: 8 hours or 10 hours Experience: 3-5 years in an Operating Room License: Current Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: Trauma surgery experience preferred but not necessary Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities. The RN is responsible for the prevention of illness and injury and alleviation of suffering through diagnosis and treatment. Advocacy for individuals and families is a key part of this role. The RN is accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development. This includes adherence to regulatory requirements and nursing practice standards. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, delegating, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing care. The RN serves as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse based on unit assignment. Patient and family education in health promotion and disease management is essential. A working knowledge of pharmacology is necessary to safely administer medications. The RN shares in the responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization. Compliance with nursing practice standards and organizational policies is expected. Active participation in professional development and continuing education is required. The RN integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice. Providing a supportive learning environment for new employees and students is important. The RN may perform duties related to Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator when assigned. Participation in improvement initiatives and peer review practices is encouraged. The RN will engage in the Clinical Ladder Program as knowledge and expertise develop. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary. Skills required include collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting is preferred. A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing is required. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred. Relevant certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or TNCC are a plus.
