Accounting Specialist

We have an outstanding Contract position for an Accounting Specialist to join a leading Company located in the Rancho Cordova, CA surrounding area.

Pay Rate: $55.00

**US Citizenship is required.**

The Specialist, General Ledger Accounting will report to the Manager, General Accounting and will be part of the team responsible for providing rapid andhigh-quality financial information.This position addresses a multitude of accounting activities, including monthly general ledger and overhead closings, balance sheet and income statement flux analysis, quarterly review and year-end audit preparation andSOX processes under tight close and reporting deadlines.

Job Responsibilities:

• Supporting monthly financial close and reporting, including:
  • Preparing monthly journal entries, including entries related to sub-ledger postings (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cost Ledger and Fixed Assets), leasing activities, rent, deferred cost, reserves, IT accruals and various cost reclassifications.
  • Review and disposition of postings to the interface and sub-ledger clearing accounts. 
  • Processing monthly manual cost adjustments for recurring items, including lease expense and severance or retention payments.
  • Processing (manual cost adjustments) for non-recurring charges, including those that post incorrectly into our ledger from sub-ledgers or interfaces. This may require collaboration with the Project Cost Accounting team and others within Finance to properly and timely resolve.
  • Preparing month-end accruals.
  • Preparing account reconciliations, including verifying that reconciling items are timely investigated and resolved.
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly corporate supplementary schedules.
  • Preparing variance analysis as requested by management to support quarterly analytical reviews and/or monthly financial reviews.
• Supporting the accounting control environment by:
  • Preparing and providing support ofaudit requests for external, internal, and DCAA audits.
  • Evaluating SOX process documentation and supporting the annual SOX walkthrough and testing efforts.
  • Recommending and implementing continuous process improvements.

Basic Hiring Criteria:   

• Bachelor's Degree and a minimum4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu ofa degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Desired Qualifications: 

• General ledger accounting (preparing journal entries and account reconciliations).
• Financial analysis (i.e. -account and variance analysis).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Independent, self-motivated individual with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Ability to effectively communicate with various levels of personnel and to work in a team environment.
• Ability to make decisions and exercise some independent action in the completion of job duties.
• Familiarity with Oracle EBS.
• Experience auditing financial statements.
• Experience working in the accounting organization for a public company.
• CPA, MBA or CMA.
