Food Service Manager

Primary Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and oversee designated church, Academy, and ministry meals, including Wednesday Night Fellowship and other recurring events. Develop menus, standardized recipes, production plans, and purchasing quantities with attention to quality, variety, cost, and participation. Provide operational oversight of the Weddington Christian Academy food program, including coordination and evaluation of both internally prepared and vendor-provided meals. Manage purchasing, inventory, food costs, vendors, budgeting, and waste reduction. Coordinate food service for approved ministry events and recommend the most appropriate approach: internally prepared, catered, volunteer-supported, or a combination. Recruit, organize, train, and lead Food Services volunteers and coordinate paid support staff as applicable. Oversee the organization, cleanliness, readiness, and day-to-day operation of Weddington's two commercial kitchens and two Fellowship Hall kitchens. Maintain high standards for food safety, sanitation, equipment care, and regulatory compliance. Develop and maintain recipes, production records, menu history, inventory controls, event procedures, and other systems that create consistency and continuity. Track participation, food costs, labor, waste, vendor performance, and other information to support responsible stewardship and continuous improvement. Collaborate closely with church staff, Academy leadership, ministry leaders, Finance, Facilities, volunteers, and outside vendors. Qualifications: Qualified candidates should have experience in culinary operations, food service management, catering, commercial kitchens, institutional food service, or a related field. The ideal candidate will be a strong culinary leader who is equally comfortable managing people, budgets, vendors, systems, and multiple kitchen environments. Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, sound financial stewardship, knowledge of food safety and sanitation, and the ability to effectively lead both employees and volunteers. Food-safety certification, such as ServSafe Manager, is required or must be obtained within an established period following hire. Food service at Weddington is an important expression of hospitality and ministry, serving students, families, church members, volunteers, staff, and guests throughout the year.
