Details Acute care setting on a 70-bed Cardio Thoracic Telemetry unit Patient population includes MI, CHF, A fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, thoracic and lung surgery patients with chest tubes, esophagectomy, and general medical overflow Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights PCT support available at ratios of 1:8-9 days, 1:9-10 evenings, and 1:10-12 nights 24/7 charge nurse and house supervisor coverage, with charge nurse rarely taking patient assignments Uses Philips telemetry monitors with dedicated monitor techs, though RNs must independently read and interpret strips EPIC EMR used for charting 12-hour day shifts scheduled 0700-1930 Every other weekend required, including Saturday/Sunday for days Rotating holiday coverage required per unit schedule Floating required to other general medical units No call or standby requirements at this time Requirements Active IL RN license required, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated Current BLS certification (AHA) required; ACLS recommended Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Proficiency in EKG interpretation and medication titration, including Cardizem and heparin drips Strong foundational nursing skills required Must pass negative drug screen for all panels as part of facility's Drug-Free Campus policy Additional Information Responsible for titrating cardiac drips and interpreting telemetry strips independently Manage patients requiring CPAP/BiPAP as part of home regimen, with heated high flow used only in special circumstances such as COVID cases Scrubs may be any color but must avoid children's or cartoon-style prints as this is an adult unit Unit-specific orientation typically consists of one shift, or partial shift for those previously oriented at an OSF facility Local rate applies to clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility No radius rule restricts eligibility for this position COVID vaccination is not required for consideration American Traveler Job ID P-749753.
