Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Responsibilities Assess the psychiatric and mental health needs of children, adolescents, and/or adults. Complete initial psychiatric evaluations, medication management appointments, medication checks, and psychiatric consultations. Diagnose psychiatric and mental health conditions within the scope of professional practice. Develop individualized plans of care and treatment recommendations based on client needs. Prescribe psychiatric medications and provide ongoing medication management in accordance with professional, legal, and ethical standards. Monitor client response to medication, side effects, treatment adherence, and ongoing clinical needs. Provide education to clients and/or caregivers regarding diagnoses, medication, treatment recommendations, side effects, and follow-up needs. Refer and link clients with additional services, supports, or community resources when clinically indicated. Collaborate with therapists, administrative staff, medical assistants, pharmacies, referral sources, and other providers as needed to support coordinated care. Maintain timely and accurate documentation in accordance with company guidelines, best practice standards, managed care standards, and professional requirements. Submit assessments, progress notes, medication documentation, and other required records within established agency timelines. Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, caregivers, staff, pharmacies, providers, and outside agencies. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, company policy, and all applicable federal and state laws. Participate in required meetings, trainings, and administrative communication as assigned. Maintain all required licenses, certifications, registrations, and continuing education requirements.
