Senior Accountant

Senior AccountantWe are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to support accounting and financial reporting for a wine and production operation. This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on cost accounting, inventory, production costs, and month-end close. The right person will have experience in a manufacturing, food & beverage, wine, or other inventory-driven environment and understand how production activity flows through the financial statements.ResponsibilitiesOwn and maintain inventory and cost accounting for raw materials, packaging, finished goods, and work in processTrack and analyze production costs, including grapes, bulk wine, packaging, bottling, labor, overhead, and other expensesMaintain and review standard and actual costs and investigate significant variancesWork closely with operations and production teams to ensure costs are captured accurately and timelyAnalyze inventory movements, production yields, usage, and variancesAssist with physical inventory counts and reconcile inventory records to the general ledgerReview inventory reserves, write-offs, aging, and obsolescence as neededSupport costing of wine and production activities, including transfers, bottling, blending, and finished goodsPrepare monthly management reports and provide analysis around product margins and production costsReconcile inventory, COGS, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accountsAssist with budgeting, forecasting, and annual planning related to production and inventory costsSupport annual audits, tax filings, and other financial reporting requirementsHelp maintain accounting procedures and internal controls around inventory and productionWork with purchasing, operations, warehouse, production, and sales teams to resolve accounting and costing issuesAssist with process improvements and system enhancements related to inventory and cost accountingQualifications6+ years of accounting experience, with cost accounting experience strongly preferredExperience in wine, beverage, food, manufacturing, or another production environmentStrong understanding of inventory accounting, COGS, and production costingStrong Excel skills, including the ability to work with large data sets and build reportsAbility to work closely with operations and production teams and translate operational activity into financial results
