The Hearth Doctor is hiring a licensed Maine propane and natural gas technician for a full-time, year-round service position based out of Brunswick.

This position offers:

• $28.00 to $42.00

• Monday through Friday schedule

• No weekends

• No on-call rotation

• No overnight emergency calls

• Year-round work with no seasonal layoffs

• Training on gas fireplaces, pellet stoves, and hearth appliances

This is not a traditional fuel-delivery or emergency heating-service position. Your primary focus will be scheduled residential service appointments for gas fireplaces, inserts, and stoves.

Gas service will be the initial focus of the position. Over time, you will also be expected to learn pellet stove and fireplace maintenance, diagnostics, and repair. Previous pellet experience is not required. We will provide hands-on training, but you must be willing to learn and expand your skills.

Pay and Advancement

Hourly pay ranges from $28.00 to $42.00, depending on licensing, directly related experience, diagnostic ability, and demonstrated performance.

The position also includes performance incentives that reward technicians who:

• Keep their service vehicle organized and properly stocked

• Communicate professionally with customers

Proven technicians have a clear path to increased pay, higher technician levels, and additional responsibilities as the company grows.

What Your Day Will Look Like

After completing training and demonstrating readiness, you will run a scheduled solo service route throughout southern Maine.

Most days will include:

• Diagnosing and repairing gas fireplaces, inserts, and stoves

• Performing annual cleanings and safety inspections

• Troubleshooting ignition systems, gas valves, venting, electrical components, and controls

• Explaining findings and recommended next steps to homeowners

• Documenting completed work, parts used, and job notes

• Keeping your service vehicle clean, organized, and stocked

• Learning to diagnose, maintain, and repair pellet stoves and other hearth products

This is a customer-facing position. You must be comfortable working inside customers’ homes, explaining technical issues clearly, and treating people and their property with respect.

What We Are Looking For

Required

• Valid Maine Propane and Natural Gas Technician License

• Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company insurance requirements

• Willingness to learn pellet stoves, fireplaces, and additional hearth products

• Professional communication skills

• Strong attention to detail

• Ability to work independently after training

Preferred, but Not Required

• Experience servicing gas fireplaces, inserts, stoves, or similar gas appliances

• Experience troubleshooting electrical components, ignition systems, valves, and controls

• Pellet stove or hearth-industry experience

You do not need to know every fireplace or pellet stove brand when you start. We are willing to train a licensed technician who has the right attitude, mechanical ability, work ethic, and willingness to learn.

The Hearth Doctor is a veteran-owned fireplace, stove, and hearth-appliance company with locations in Auburn, Brunswick, and Yarmouth. We serve residential customers throughout southern Maine and provide installation, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair services.

Work Location: Based out of Brunswick, Maine, with travel to scheduled residential appointments throughout southern Maine
