Position Overview:

Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to inpatient behavioral health patients in a secured 12-bed psychiatric unit, managing psychiatric conditions, medication administration, crisis situations, safety precautions, and behavioral emergencies.

Job duties:

• Administer antianxiety, antidepressant, antipsychotic, mood-stabilizing, and sedative/analgesic medications according to prescribed treatment plans.
• Monitor and provide nursing care for patients with psychiatric disorders including anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, and substance use.
• Perform crisis intervention, de-escalation, behavior management, and management of assaultive or self-injurious behaviors.
• Maintain patient safety through seclusion protocols, physical hold procedures, emergency chemical restraints, and appropriate observation levels.
• Monitor clinical status through blood glucose monitoring, oxygen administration, laboratory value interpretation, and emergency care including CPR.

Requirements:
License : Active Maryland RN or Compact RN license required.

Experience : 1 year of inpatient behavioral health/psychiatric nursing experience required.

Certifications : BLS, CPI

Patient Diagnoses: Anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, depressive disorders, personality disorders, PTSD/trauma- and stressor-related disorders, psychotic disorders, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, profound impulse control issues, self-injurious behavior, suicidal behavior, severe intellectual disabilities, substance use, and assault/violence-related behavioral conditions
