The Clinical Nurse Manager, Emergency Department is responsible for the clinical, operational, and administrative leadership of the ED. This role ensures high-quality, patient-centered emergency care while supporting staff development, regulatory compliance, and efficient department operations. This role collaborates closely with physicians, hospital leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to promote safe, timely, and effective emergency services at Saint Anthony Hospital. Key Responsibilities: Essential Functions
• Oversee daily clinical operations of the Emergency Department
• Ensure delivery of safe, evidence-based emergency nursing care
• Monitor patient flow, throughput, and adherence to triage standards
• Support complex or high-acuity patient care as needed
• Promote patient safety initiatives and quality improvement efforts
• Supervise and support ED nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and techs
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations
• Foster a positive, team-oriented, and accountable work environment
• Manage staffing schedules, assignments, and overtime control
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and conflict resolution
• Ensure efficient patient throughput and reduce ED wait times
• Collaborate with physicians and hospital leadership on workflow optimization
• Manage departmental budgets, staffing resources, and supply utilization
• Participate in disaster preparedness and emergency response planning
• Ensure equipment readiness and compliance with safety standards
• Ensure compliance with CMS, The Joint Commission, OSHA, and state regulations
• Monitor quality metrics such as LWBS (Left Without Being Seen), door-to-doc time, and readmissions
• Lead or participate in performance improvement (PI) projects
• Maintain accurate documentation and audit readiness
• Serve as liaison between ED staff, hospital administration, and medical staff
• Participate in hospital committees and interdisciplinary initiatives
• Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding care processes
• Support continuity of care across inpatient and outpatient settings Qualifications: (List any required knowledge, skills, experiences or training, including length of time necessary for proficiency, required to perform the job.)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; master's preferred
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
• BLS, ACLS required; PALS and TNCC preferred (or willingness to obtain)
• Minimum 3-5 years of emergency department nursing experience
• At least 1-2 years of leadership or charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience in a community hospital or nonprofit healthcare setting strongly preferred
• Strong clinical judgment in high-acuity and fast-paced environments
• Proven leadership and team-building skills
• Knowledge of ED operations, trauma protocols, and triage systems
• Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage staffing, budgets, and operational priorities
• Commitment to patient-centered, equitable care in a community setting
