Newport Meadows & Rehabilitation Center  of Christiana, PA is seeking to hire an Assistant Cook  to provide nutritious, quality meals to the residents we care for.

Job Type:  Part Time/Full Time

Schedule: 1st & 2nd Shifts available

every other weekend required

The most successful candidate for this position :

• Has prior line-cook experience

• Previously worked in a healthcare setting (preferred, but we will train the right people!)

• Employs great customer service skills and is always willing to go the extra mile

• Possesses good time management and the ability to multi-task

The responsibilities & duties:

• Review menus prior to preparation of food

• Prepare meals following planned menus and make only authorized food substitutes

• Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance

• Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menu

• Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures

• Inspect special diet trays to assure that correct diet is served to residents

• Assist in establishing service production lines to assure that meals are prepared on time

• Assumes responsibility for tray line and serves on tray line as necessary

• Interpret department policies and procedures to personnel, residents, visitors, family members, etc., as needed and appropriate

• Coordinate dietary service with other departments as necessary
