Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Irrigation Technician / Spray Technician to join our landscape maintenance team. This position is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and operation of irrigation systems, as well as the safe and effective application of fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and other landscape treatments. The ideal candidate will have experience troubleshooting irrigation systems, identifying landscape issues, and maintaining high-quality grounds while promoting water conservation and environmental stewardship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Irrigation System Maintenance & Repair

• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair,  and maintain irrigation systems, including controllers, valves, heads, pumps, wiring, and related components.
• Diagnose and repair irrigation leaks, broken lines, malfunctioning valves, and coverage issues.
• Program and adjust irrigation controllers based on weather conditions, seasonal requirements, and water conservation practices.
• Monitor system performance and make necessary adjustments to ensure efficient water distribution.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on irrigation equipment and systems.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and irrigation schedules.

Spray Technician Responsibilities

• Apply fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and other approved landscape treatments according to label instructions and company standards.
• Calibrate and maintain spray equipment to ensure accurate application rates.
• Monitor landscapes for weeds, pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
• Identify treatment needs and communicate recommendations to supervisors.
• Maintain application records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Follow all safety procedures regarding chemical handling, storage, mixing, and application.

General Landscaping Support

• Assist with landscape maintenance activities as needed, including planting, pruning, mulching, and debris removal.
• Operate landscaping equipment and vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Support team members during special projects and seasonal maintenance activities.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in irrigation installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Experience applying fertilizers and pesticides in a commercial landscape environment.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• State pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
• Possess or be able to obtain Florida Green Industries Best Management Practices (GI-BMP) Certification within six (6) months of employment.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems, controllers, pumps, and water management practices.
• Ability to read irrigation plans and equipment manuals preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of plant health care, pest identification, and landscape management practices.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Effective communication and record-keeping skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.
• Ability to safely operate landscape equipment, spray equipment, and utility vehicles.
