In this role and you will have the opportunity to ensure that the goals are met to provide a safe, fun, structured and engaging atmosphere for all our customers. Enthusiasm, flexibility and excellent communication skills are needed to be successful in this position.What You Should Bring Each member of our team is accountable for the outstanding delivery of services to the community. You will work to meet the needs of our community. You will have the support of and work under the direction of the Fee Classes and Camps Recreation Coordinator and/or Recreation Manager II The hours will vary Sunday- Saturday 6:00am- 9:00pm with some Special Events scheduled throughout the year.Enrichment and Fitness Instructor:The Enrichment and Fitness Instructor is responsible for the safe enjoyment in one of the following disciplines:* Health and Wellness* Aerobic Exercise* Sports* Summer/ Winter/ Spring Break Camps* Arts & Crafts* Music* Dance* Martial Arts* Tai Chi* Yoga/ Pilates* Educational* STEM* Teaches scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time* Instructs patrons on effective workout methods; explains proper techniques, demonstrates exercises, and teaches appropriate methods* Prepares appropriate equipment, music, and handouts for each class.* Assists patrons, answers questions, and maintains a positive exercise experience for members and class participants.* Keeps management informed of customer and facility needs.* Ensures that safety standards are met, and that department and facility policies are adhered to.* Performs related duties as required.About the Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural ActivitiesThe mission of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities is to enrich the City of Alexandria by creating meaningful experiences through public spaces, cultural activities, and programming. The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities received national accreditation from the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA). National accreditation requires park and recreation agencies to meet 155 standards representing elements of effective and efficient park and recreation operations.Minimum & Additional RequirementsHigh School Diploma and three (3) years of related experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
