Senior Manager / Director, Statistical Genetics

Insitro seeks a Senior Manager or Director of Statistical Genetics to lead a team developing machine learning methods that integrate human genetics with cellular data for drug discovery. The role combines team leadership, methodological innovation, and translation of genetic findings into therapeutic programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and expand team of four statistical geneticists developing human genetics insight methods
• Define roadmap and priorities for statistical genetics platform while maintaining analytical rigor
• Develop new machine learning methodology integrating human genetics with complementary data modalities
• Conduct GWAS, rare variant, and post-GWAS analyses to identify and prioritize novel therapeutic targets
• Partner with drug discovery scientists to translate genetic findings into validated, tractable programs

Requirements

• PhD in statistical genetics, human genetics, computational biology, biostatistics, or related field plus 5+ years experience
• Deep expertise in statistical genetics applied to target discovery in industry
• Direct people management experience with track record mentoring technical talent
• Demonstrated experience applying machine learning to genetic or clinical data
• Publication history and methodological innovation in statistical genetics
• Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills
• Python or R proficiency in cloud environments with version-controlled code (preferred)

Compensation: $224,000 - $273,000 base
