About the Position

Job Title: PCU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Required Certifications: BLS ACLS NIHSS Must-Have: Candidates must not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with the organization. Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Candidates must pass an open book exam on skills learned during orientation with a score of 90% or higher. A driver's license is required for submission. Description: This position is for a fast-paced unit. The department serves adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring needs. Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:4-5. RNs are required to titrate drips, including Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications. There is a charge nurse on each shift, and the charge nurse does take an assignment. There are patient care techs on the unit with a ratio of 1:10 or 2:20. Weekend requirements are every other weekend, and holiday requirements are every third holiday. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating to medical floors, ICU, or rehab may be necessary. Successful attributes for this role include a positive attitude, good communication skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. All requests for time off need to be provided upfront, and additional time off will not be approved after submissions. The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts for a 13-week assignment. Charting is conducted via an electronic system. This position does not require a BSN. The care setting is acute, and the trauma level is 2.
