The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Workforce & Commerce City Campus is a senior leadership position responsible for driving the strategic vision, development, and operational oversight of workforce education initiatives and the Commerce City Campus. Reporting to the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, the AVP provides direct supervision of the Dean of Workforce, the Workforce Program Assistant, and Workforce Faculty. This role serves as the institutional champion for skilled trades offerings, non-credit, industry-aligned credentials, and workforce skill development, while also overseeing programming through the Center for Adult Education. They will work in partnership with the Vice President of External Strategy and Chief of Staff to ensure programming to complement and strengthen the VPES's Corporate College Vision.
OVERVIEW OF CCA The Community College of Aurora serves our diverse community by providing high-quality instruction and support services to prepare students for transfer and employment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- In partnership with our cross divisional workforce and corporate college model, develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan for workforce education and the Commerce City Campus aligned with institutional goals and regional labor market needs
- Serve as the primary institutional leader for the growth and sustainability of skilled trades programs and non-credit, industry-aligned credentials
- Identify emerging workforce trends and translate them into innovative programming opportunities
- Build and maintain relationships with city leaders, industry partners, employers, workforce development boards, and community stakeholders
- Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and performance evaluation for the Dean of Workforce, Workforce Program Assistant, and Workforce Faculty
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture focused on student and community outcomes
- Support professional development and growth opportunities for direct reports and broader workforce team members
- Serve as the senior administrative leader for the Commerce City Campus, ensuring effective operations, programming, and community engagement
- Oversee campus facilities planning, scheduling, and resource allocation in coordination with institutional services
- Cultivate the Commerce City Campus as a hub for workforce development and community partnerships
- Lead the design, launch, and continuous improvement of skilled trades offerings and non-credit credential programs
- Ensure all workforce programming is industry-aligned, responsive to employer needs, and leads to meaningful employment outcomes
- Develop and manage partnerships with industry certifying bodies and credentialing organizations
- Oversee curriculum development processes for non-credit and workforce programs in collaboration with faculty and industry advisors
- In partnership with the Dean of Workforce, provide administrative oversight of programming within the Center for Adult Education
- Ensure adult education offerings complement and create pathways into workforce credential programs
- Support integrated education and training models that combine basic skills with workforce preparation
- Develop and manage budgets for workforce programming and the Commerce City Campus
- Identify and pursue grant funding, contract training revenue, and alternative funding sources to support workforce initiatives
- Ensure responsible stewardship of institutional resources
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators for workforce programs, including enrollment, completion, credential attainment, and employment outcomes
- Use data-driven decision-making to refine programming and demonstrate return on investment
- Prepare reports for institutional leadership, accrediting bodies, and external stakeholders
- Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution (required)
- Five (5) or more years of progressive leadership experience in workforce development, career and technical education, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing non-credit, workforce, or skilled trades programs
- Experience supervising professional staff and/or faculty
- Knowledge of industry credentialing, apprenticeship models, and employer engagement strategies
- Community College instruction and an understanding of the skilled trades fields
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Doctoral degree in education, workforce development, organizational leadership, or a related discipline
- Experience in a community college or higher education setting
- Familiarity with adult education programming and integrated education and training models
- Track record of securing grants or external funding for workforce initiatives
