Associate Professor/Full Professor & Director (SMART Center) Prairie View A&M University – Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty position. Location: Prairie View, Texas. Proposed minimum salary: commensurate. This position serves as the Director of the Smart Microgrid Advanced Research and Technology (SMART) Center and also occupies an Associate or Full Professor role in the Electrical Engineering Department. The SMART Center was established by the Chancellor of the Texas A&M University with multimillion‑dollar funds to support research in smart microgrids. The Director is expected to establish a vigorous research program strongly funded by federal agencies, to make the SMART Center self‑sustaining within three years, and to provide educational and research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students through the Roy G. Perry College of Engineering. Responsibilities Teach undergraduate and graduate courses; revise or develop new courses to support the educational mission of the College of Engineering and the University. Seek external research funding and conduct innovative research. Promote the College of Engineering and the university; provide academic leadership; recruit graduate students for the project. Required Education and Experience Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline. Over seven (7) years of demonstrated research experience in academia or industry in power systems or power electronics. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Proven track record of attracting and managing federally funded research projects in distributed‑energy sources, smart grid applications, photovoltaic, wind power systems, and power protection. Substantial publications in refereed journals and conference proceedings. Preferred Qualifications Over twelve (12) years of demonstrated research experience in academia or industry in power systems or power electronics.
