LVN Treatment Nurse

Under the supervision of the Clinic Manager, the LVN Treatment Nurse assists in the daily operation of the medical component of the Adult Day Care Center. The LVN Treatment Nurse's duties include monitoring and maintaining skin integrity, health education of participants and families, the provision of treatments as per the treatment plan and as ordered by the Physician's documentation in the medical record.

Responsibilities include providing treatments as per physician orders, supplying participants and caregivers with treatment supplies for home use, motivating participants to maximize independence and maintain skill levels, documenting all treatments administered in center, assisting Clinic Manager in maintaining adequate nursing supplies, providing patient care under supervision, participating in morning meetings, cross training to provide medication nurse coverage, attending monthly clinic meetings, maintaining the wound care log and checklist, and performing other duties as assigned by the Clinic Manager.

Qualifications/requirements include a graduate of an accredited nursing program with a license to practice in the state of Texas as a Vocational Nurse, and one year of experience in treatment with a frail or elderly population preferred.

Required Skills

Knowledge/skills/abilities include knowledge of nursing theory and practice, a strong knowledge base and keen understanding and appreciation of the elderly, the ability to present the philosophy of community-based long-term care for the elderly, the skill to work collectively and communicate effectively with staff, participants, and family members, adaptability to work with the interdisciplinary team approach to care for the elderly, the ability to accept supervision in an appropriate manner, proficiency in computer skills, and bilingual preferred.
