As a Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Partners in Recovery program at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, you will play a vital role in assisting our staff psychiatrist with the prescription, administration, and monitoring of client medications. Your responsibilities will include performing routine physical and mental health nursing assessments, administering prescribed medications, and providing supportive counseling to enhance our clients’ recovery journey. With a thorough knowledge of the characteristics and precautions associated with methadone administration, you will also monitor clients' medical needs and conduct drug testing and other medical screenings. Your expertise will ensure compliance with regulations regarding controlled substances, while your ability to maintain accurate client medical records will facilitate effective treatment outcomes. Knowledge and skills required for the position are: Graduate of an accredited LPN school of nursing with one year of experience in the administration of medication or in a substance abuse treatment, psychiatric setting, or long term care facility including the dispensing of narcotic medication.
