Director of Operations – Major Projects (Mechanical Construction) - North Carolina This executive leadership role will oversee a significant portfolio of major projects and provide strategic direction to project executives, project directors, senior project managers, and field leadership teams. The Director will be accountable for operational performance, project execution, profitability, client satisfaction, talent development, and long-term growth of the Major Projects division. This position is ideally suited for a proven construction executive who has successfully led large-scale mechanical construction operations and possesses the leadership capability to scale a high‑performing organization while maintaining a culture of accountability, innovation, and excellence. RESPONSABILIT Lead the operational execution of major mechanical construction projects throughout North America Develop and implement operational strategies that support sustainable growth and profitability Ensure consistent project delivery excellence across all major projects. Build and mentor high‑performing leadership teams Strengthen relationships with owners, developers, general contractors, consultants, and strategic partners Drive continuous improvement in project controls, planning, procurement, productivity, and risk management Support executive leadership in strategic planning and business growth initiatives Provide executive oversight for the Major Projects business unit Lead a portfolio of large and complex projects from preconstruction through turnover Establish operational standards, best practices, and performance metrics Drive consistency in project execution across multiple regions and markets Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement Maintain accountability for divisional P&L performance Review project forecasts, budgets, labor productivity, cash flow, and margin performance Lead financial review processes across the project portfolio Ensure disciplined project controls and forecasting practices Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and profitability Develop and maintain executive‑level relationships with key clients and industry partners Participate in strategic pursuits, interviews, and major project negotiations Support business development initiatives and market expansion opportunities Act as a senior executive representative for critical client engagements Lead, coach, and develop project directors, operations managers, and senior project managers Build succession plans and leadership development pathways Recruit and retain top industry talent Promote a culture that aligns with organizational values of integrity, teamwork, accountability, innovation, and excellence. REQUIREMENTS 15+ years of progressive leadership experience within mechanical construction, industrial construction, or large‑scale commercial construction environments Proven experience leading major projects and/or project portfolios exceeding $100M+ in annual project volume Extensive experience in one or more of: Data Centers, Mission‑Critical Facilities, Advanced Manufacturing, Healthcare, Industrial Construction, Pharmaceutical/Life Sciences, Institutional Construction, Demonstrated success leading large multidisciplinary project teams Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related discipline. #J-18808-Ljbffr Gryphon Oakwood
