Manual Machinist Lockport, IL | $35.00/hr | Precision Machining

We are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our precision machining team. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience operating manual lathes, mills, grinders, drill presses, and vertical turning lathes (VTLs). This role requires strong technical ability, blueprint reading skills, and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality parts.

Key Responsibilities

• Manual Machine Operation Set up and operate manual machine tools including engine lathes, VTLs, mills, drill presses, and surface grinders.
• Blueprint Interpretation Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to ensure accurate machining.
• Precision Machining Machine parts to tight tolerances using proper speeds, feeds, and tooling.
• Quality Inspection Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision instruments.
• Machine Maintenance Perform routine maintenance and report mechanical issues.
• Tooling Selection Select appropriate tooling and make adjustments during machining operations.
• Shop Safety & Organization Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Team Collaboration Work with team members to meet production goals and deadlines.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a manual machinist, including operation of a vertical turning lathe (VTL).
• Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and materials.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools and inspection methods.
• Ability to work independently and troubleshoot machining challenges.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Pay & Benefits
