Base pay range $130,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr Controller Arlington, TX Vaco is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Controller for one of our mid-market, private equity-backed clients. This is a hands-on role that will be instrumental in building a scalable accounting function, driving financial rigor, and supporting strategic growth initiatives. This Controller will supervise a small team and be very hands on with the day-to-day accounting – managing AR/AP, processing payroll, filing sales taxes and dealing with the auditors. They are open to Sr. Managers or Assistant Controllers looking to take that next step to Controller and offer 4 weeks PTO out of the gates as well as solid 401k match and full healthcare benefits. $130-150K + bonus Key Responsibilities Lead and Manage Accounting Operations: Oversee all day-to-day accounting functions including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, inventory, and fixed assets. Monthly Close & Reporting: Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. Prepare timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Audit & Compliance: Lead annual financial audits and ensure compliance with all financial and tax regulations. Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity. PE Reporting: Prepare financial packages, KPIs, and ad hoc reports for private equity sponsors and board-level presentations. Systems & Process Improvement: Evaluate and improve financial systems, tools, and processes to increase efficiency and scalability. Assist with ERP upgrades or implementations as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role. Experience in a private equity-backed, growth-stage, or mid-market company is required. Hands-on experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar). Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks.
