Deli CookREPORTS TO: Deli Manager, Deli Assistant Manager, Kitchen SupervisorFLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Hourly EmployeeDEPARTMENT: Deli DepartmentPURPOSE:Deli staff provide excellent customer service, maintain a clean and stocked department, and are positive contributors to the Deli Department team. Deli Cooks prepare and package quality, made-from-scratch food in an open commercial kitchen. Deli Cooks follow all established procedures, working both independently and as a team to achieve department goals. ALL CO-OP STAFF WILL:Use all available tools and resources to provide excellent and knowledgeable customer service to all customers, coworkers, and vendorsCommunicate professionally and respectfully with everyone you encounter while at workAdhere to all store and department policies and proceduresDemonstrate regular, predictable good attendanceAttend huddles and meetings as scheduledCommit to contributing to a positive, team-building work environmentDELI COOKS WILL:Accurately execute all co-op recipes and procedures to create consistent, high-quality productsPromptly assist customers to maintain department standards of excellent customer serviceUnderstand and learn proper cooking methods and techniques used in the kitchenAccurately record all temperature logs, sanitization logs and waste logsParticipate in packaging, labeling, and merchandising of prepared foodsProperly label, store, and rotate all food productParticipate in dishwashing as neededSafely and properly operate and maintain all kitchen equipmentReceive and store product orders as directedMaintain a fully stocked and clean departmentResponsibly fulfill all food safety requirementsOther assignments as necessary THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:Passion for cooking, natural foods, and co-opsExceptional customer service skillsThe ability to balance multiple prioritiesAttention to detailSelf-motivation; comfortable taking initiative and prioritizing tasksDesire to grow skills and knowledgeThe ability to work with limited and no supervisionMinimum of 1-year professional cooking experiencePHYSICAL DEMANDSStanding, bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, and walking for extended periods of time per shiftRepetitive bending and lifting of loads, not to exceed 50 poundsEnvironmental exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, ovens, freezer, outdoors, etc.)Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulationImportant Notice: The job duties, elements, responsibilities, skills, functions, experience, educational factors, and the requirements and conditions listed in this job description are representative only and not exhaustive of the tasks that an employee may be required to perform.
