Summary Compiles payroll data to maintain payroll records by performing the following Essential Duties and Responsibilities. This position is responsible for classified/non-certified staff payroll functions. Other duties may be assigned by the department administrators.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Compiles payroll data for certified/licensed employees, including salary distribution among existing pay periods, differential stipends, and hourly extra duties.
- Review and verify payroll data for accuracy, including pay rates, benefit deductions, and tax withholdings
- Reviews and enters applicable timesheets for certified employees. Verifies accuracy of account numbers for extra duty payments.
- Set up all employee deductions, pay codes, pay groups, and deferred compensation pension codes.
- Enters new and updated personnel contracts, benefits, and deductions into the payroll accounting software, including retirement contributions, tax withholdings, insurance, and union dues.
- Prepares ACH files and manual checks, and maintain direct deposit records and resolve related problems
- Balance and process payroll liability accounts payable checks and ACH payments
- Reconcile, file, and maintain records for TRS reports, including per-period reporting and annual reports.
- Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
- Keeps records of leave pay and nontaxable wages.
- Prepares and issues paychecks.

Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
