Energy and Climate Change (Tenure Track and/or Lecturer)

The Kennedy School invites application for two faculty positions in Energy and Climate Change . The first position is for a tenure-track scholar, with a preference for political science or economics, but exceptional candidates from other fields will be considered. The second position is for a Lecturer position, combining practical experience in the fields of energy policy and/or climate change with teaching excellence. Both positions will start in Fall 2027.

Junior Tenure-track Position

This position is open to junior scholars who focus on the fields of energy and climate change. Candidates should conduct research and teaching that applies the tools of their discipline to important questions in energy policy, energy markets, the politics and geopolitics of energy, the energy transition, and/or climate change. Requirements include a doctorate in political science, economics, or a related discipline, and a strong capacity to integrate methods and insights across disciplinary boundaries. Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in public and/or policy engagement and applying their perspectives to the practice of public policy. This position will be jointly appointed with the Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability.

Lecturer Position

This position is for a full-time Lecturer in the teaching of public policy focusing on the fields of energy and climate change. Candidates should have extensive experience in the practice and application of policy tools to important questions in energy policy, energy markets, the politics and geopolitics of energy, the energy transition, and/or climate change. We seek candidates with a demonstrated record of teaching excellence and a commitment to teaching professional degree program students in the fields of energy and climate change policy. The ability to convey conceptual as well as practical knowledge and a commitment to the public service mission of Harvard Kennedy School are crucial. The initial appointment is for three years with the possibility of renewal.
