MONITOR TECHNICIAN-UNIT SECRETARY

Part Time, Franklin, IN, US 8 days ago Requisition ID: 2325 Job Responsibilities: Receives demographic and clinical information regarding patients and initiates cardiac monitoring for patients being monitored remotely (telemetry). Observes cardiac monitors of patients in the CCU and other areas of the hospital being monitored by remote cardiac telemetry. (Ongoing primary responsibility.) Interprets/recognizes basic cardiac rhythms with nurse supervision. Notifies the nurse of alarms generated at the central station. Answers incoming telephone calls, takes messages, obtains information, provides information as appropriate regarding patient status/condition, and routes calls or messages to the appropriate person or department. Maintains the CCU log of admissions, dismissals, and transfers. Maintains contact with ancillary departments to request services, obtains test results when needed, and notifies appropriate staff of results; schedules patients for services as requested by the provider or nurse. Greets patient families/visitors, provides an atmosphere reflecting courtesy and concern for patient and family well‑being, and offers directions and information to patients, families, and visitors. Maintains the work environment in an orderly fashion. Monitors the information systems printer routinely throughout the shift to ensure timely receipt and/or delivery of information and checks the nurse’s station workstation for “terminal mail” and responds appropriately. Participates in unit staff meetings. Performs other duties as required. Clearly communicates and continuously supports the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial Health. Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures, including Blood and Body Substance Precautions. Education, Experience, and Training: High school diploma or equivalent required. A medical terminology course or previous secretarial experience in a health‑related field is a plus. Basic dysrhythmia recognition course and/or previous experience preferred. SCHEDULE
