Registered Nurse - Cardiac Stepdown

Job Description

Job Summary:
This Cardiac Stepdown RN position requires experienced nurses to provide specialized care to high-acuity cardiac patients within a 36-bed unit. The role involves managing complex cardiac conditions and overseeing post-acute cardiac recovery.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor patients' cardiac status, including titration of drips such as Dopamine, Amiodarone, and Heparin.
• Administer and manage respiratory equipment like CPAP and BiPAP under RT supervision.
• Collaborate with the charge nurse and team to deliver comprehensive patient care, ensuring staffing ratios are maintained.
• Read and interpret telemetry strips from Phillips monitors, ensuring early detection of cardiac events.
• Support patient recovery following procedures such as cardiac catheterizations, PCI, and post-OP lung surgeries.
• Follow strict protocols for patient safety, including adherence to certification requirements and unit-specific procedures.

Qualifications:

• Valid RN license with current BLS certification; ACLS preferred.
• Proven experience in cardiac or stepdown care, with proficiency in titrating cardiac drips.
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips accurately.
• Demonstrated knowledge of cardiac diagnoses such as AMI, post-PCI, respiratory failure, and post-op lung surgeries.
• Capable of managing high-acuity patients with complex needs.
• Flexibility to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule.
