RN Registered Nurse

Registered Nurse in Cardiac Telemetry/Stepdown UnitThis position is for a Registered Nurse in a Cardiac Telemetry/Stepdown unit. The unit has 36 beds, with a focus on higher acuity than typical telemetry units. Patient ratios are 1:5 for MedSurg/Telemetry, and 1:4 for PCU acuity. Common diagnoses include cardiac patients, CR bands, AMI, and patients with chest tubes and pacemakers. Nurses will occasionally manage titratable drips, including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Nitroglycerin. A charge nurse is available 24/7. Nursing aids assist with patient care, ideally in a team nursing model of 1 RN and 1 CNA for 6-7 patients. Nurses must read and interpret telemetry strips. The unit has monitor techs available, but RNs are responsible for reading strips. Shift hours are 7 am to 7 pm on weekends. Every other weekend shift is required. Nurses will be included in the holiday rotation.
