Bring your expertise in behavior support and special education to a dynamic role supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. This full-time, onsite position splits time between high school teaching and serving as an Elementary Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS). You'll be part of a committed educational team dedicated to fostering positive outcomes for students in both general and special education settings.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Minnesota Teaching License: Tier 3 or Tier 4 required for Special Education.
- Experience or training as a Behavior Specialist or Special Education Teacher in a school environment.
- Strong knowledge of developing and implementing behavior intervention plans.
- Effective communicator comfortable collaborating with staff and supporting a diverse student population.
- Must have a current resume ready for consideration.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Spend mornings instructing high school students as part of the HS Crew (0.5 FTE).
- Transition in the afternoons to support elementary staff as a BIS (0.5 FTE); work collaboratively to develop, monitor, and refine behavior plans for students.
- Serve as a resource, mentor, and consultant to teachers regarding behavior management and intervention strategies.
- Maintain strong documentation and communication about student progress and plan effectiveness.
- Uphold district standards and best practices for special education services.
Assignment Details:
- Contract runs from late August 2026 through early June 2027.
- Monday through Friday, approximately 7am–3pm; 37.5 hours per week.
- No independent caseload as BIS; focus is consultation, support, and plan development.
