Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a pivotal role this fall as a valued educator supporting students in a self-contained autism program for 3rd through 5th graders. This contract position is available due to a maternity leave and runs from August 13, 2026, through November 9, 2026. Overseeing an estimated caseload of nine students, you’ll provide dedicated, individualized support that helps each child achieve key educational and behavioral goals.
You’ll thrive in an inclusive, collaborative school environment, working a consistent 7 hour and 15 minute day, which includes a paid 30-minute lunch. This exceptional opportunity is located in Elgin, IL at the elementary school level.
Key Qualifications:
- Illinois Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS-I) license required
- Experience as a Special Education Teacher, specifically supporting students in self-contained or autism-focused classrooms
- Strong commitment to differentiated instruction and individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication skills with a collaborative approach to working alongside colleagues, families, and specialists
- Ability to implement evidence-based strategies that foster learning and promote student independence
Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver targeted lessons and interventions that meet the diverse needs of each student
- Adapt curriculum materials and modify instruction to support varying ability levels
- Monitor student progress and manage IEP documentation accurately
- Foster a safe, engaging, and nurturing classroom environment
- Collaborate with classroom assistants, therapists, and other team members to maximize student success
- Communicate regularly with families to share progress and strategies for continued development
