Family Law Paralegal

Job Overview Our San Diego Divorce and Family Law firm offers a full‑time Family Law Paralegal position (minimum 3 years of recent family law experience). The role requires integrity, teamwork, and strong administrative skills. You will work in Mission Valley from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The position is not remote. Applicants must hold a Paralegal Certificate and be bilingual in English and Spanish for an advantage. Benefits HMO Kaiser Health Insurance (up to $500 /month) Dental, Vision, Acupuncture/Chiropractic coverage Life and Long‑term Disability Insurance 10 days of accrued vacation for the first five years; 15 days thereafter 10 paid holidays (firm closed on these days) Retirement planning with employer matching Profit sharing when firm and employee meet goals Responsibilities Track and calculate progress on all deliverables to meet deadlines Manage, organize, and analyze discovery and records Review and prepare all financial disclosures and statements Keep case files and other important information neatly organized and easily accessible Create various legal papers, letters, affidavits, and pleadings (complaints, interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, pretrial orders, legal briefs) Speak with clients to provide service and answer procedural inquiries, gathering information about legal difficulties Perform administrative duties such as answering phones and maintaining the case filing system Draft legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence under attorney guidance Prepare initial drafts of financial disclosures for attorney review Help lawyers prepare for trial by organizing exhibits, assisting with client meetings, filing motions, and coordinating witnesses Hold client interviews to gather information about legal problems Support attorneys across multiple practice areas, adapting to different working and communication styles Meet minimum billable requirements set by the firm and report progress toward assigned goals Qualifications Agree to participate in a 20‑question written interview covering knowledge, abilities, habits, and behaviors Knowledge of standard office equipment (scanner, copier, printer) Excellent organizational and time‑management skills Proficiency with office software (Internet, email, word processing, case management, time & billing, legal research, document management) Strong administrative skills and attention to detail Tech‑savvy with various computer programs, databases, and systems Reliable, trustworthy, and able to maintain strict confidentiality Positive, high‑energy team player, results‑oriented with “no drama” attitude Eager to learn and act as a student for life Education & Experience A completed ABA‑approved paralegal certificate program (Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies), or a Bachelor’s degree preferred Three or more years of experience as a family law paralegal Bill 1,400 hours per year, tracked quarterly (350 hours per quarter) Employment Requirements Non‑negotiable items: Availability Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Communicate with clients in person, by phone, and by email Strong administrative skills and detail orientation Comfortable with diverse computer programs, databases, and systems Manage paper and electronic files Backup for other administrative team members when needed Positive, high‑energy, results‑oriented, drama‑free attitude A lifelong learner who loves to grow Compensation Hourly rate: $27 – $32. #J-18808-Ljbffr
