Unit Notes:

• May be assigned as a CNA if RN staffing is short, or as an entrance screener if needed (same expectations as staff)
• Ratios: RNs take 4-5 patients; CNAs take 8-11 patients
• RNs are required to titrate drips. Most are set rate and can be titrated up to the Med/Surg maximum, with transfer to critical care if the max is reached. Common drips: Insulin, Heparin, Nitro (up to 30 mcg), Dobutamine (up to 5 mcg), Dopamine (up to 5 mcg), and Cardizem (up to 30 mcg, only for patients already on oral Cardizem, not for new-onset arrhythmias).
• Charge RN on each unit; House Supervisor 11a-7a
• RT equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, trachs (no vents)
• Tele is monitored remotely by telemetry techs, who measure and read strips. RNs verify the readings are correct.
• Scrubs: no specific color required
• Schedule is based on staffing needs across the entire Med/Surg division

Requirements

Job Requirements:

• 2+ years of acute care experience – Required
• Active RN license required at time of submission (willing to wait for license)

Required Certifications:

• BLS Certification
