Examiner Physician Assistant

Overview As an Examiner, you will conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations for Veterans applying for disability compensation from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) for service‑connected in‑service injury claims. The role involves reviewing the claim, performing focused assessments of claimed injuries, reviewing medical records, and possibly rendering a medical opinion based on the record review and completed C&P exam. Charting from home may be required. Each examiner plays a vital role in the overall experience of the Veteran, and by providing an exceptional evaluation we aim to positively impact each Veteran. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive medical disability examinations, including reviewing medical history, performing physical examinations, and assessing the impact of disabilities on daily life. Review and analyze medical records, diagnostic test results, and other pertinent documentation to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Veteran’s medical history and health condition. Render objective medical opinions based on the exam findings, diagnostic results, and record review, regarding the extent of the veteran’s health issues and their impact on ability to work and daily activities. Understand and work within the case‑management system, including organizing workload, submitting findings, and corresponding with the Quality Assurance Team. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, specialists, and experts to obtain additional medical information and insights for thorough evaluation. Accurately document examination findings and recommendations in concise reports following VA guidelines and contractual obligations. Partner with Loyal Source departments to gain support and resources that help complete tasks and meet deadlines. Manage time effectively, confirm availability, and schedule all C&P exams. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards related to disability examinations, maintaining the highest level of accuracy, fairness, and quality. Submit thorough and accurate findings to QA team and comply with VA training requirements. Review and remain updated on VA MDE program requirements. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and results, adhering to HIPAA and other privacy protocols. Pay Rate Pay Rate : Base + Monthly Incentive = $163,820 - $193,820 a year. Qualifications Graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant program and holds a valid, unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the United States. At least 1 year of experience as a Physician Assistant. Experience in conducting medical disability examinations or related field preferred. Basic Life Support certification required. Previous military experience or familiarity with military/veteran communities preferred. Completion of specialized training or continuing education in Medical Disability Evaluations, occupational health, or related areas advantageous. Proficiency in comprehensive medical assessments, interpreting diagnostic tests, and formulating evidence‑based opinions. Compassionate, empathetic approach toward patients with a patient‑centered evaluation process. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for conveying complex medical concepts and presenting findings. Commitment to ethical standards, objectivity, and fairness. Attention to detail, accuracy, data quality, and alignment with LS and VA standards. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment. Excellent organizational and time‑management skills to handle multiple initiatives in a fast‑paced environment. Strong customer focus with a sense of urgency. Authorized to work in the United States and comply with federal contractor requirements. Reasoning Ability Apply common sense, carry out detailed instructions, and solve problems involving a few variables. Technological Ability Competent with MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe PDF, web‑based platforms, and electronic medical record systems; familiarity with Teams and learning management systems preferred. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods standing and sitting at a desk; lift up to 15 pounds at times; ability to see, hear, smell, bend, stretch, and use full range of motion for examinations. Travel Requirements 10% travel required supporting other clinics; additional travel for training or company events. Schedule Requirements Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm standard schedule.
