tendersglobal.net Job Description The United Nations Secretary-General is responsible for the investment of the assets of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF). The responsibility has been delegated to the Representative of the Secretary-General for the investment of the assets of the UNJSPF (RSG). The RSG heads the Office of Investment Management (OIM), which manages an investment portfolio of more than $80 billion. Approximately 85 % of that portfolio is actively managed in-house, covering global equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, private equity, real estate, infrastructure, timber and commodities. OIM staff are based in New York and come from over 30 countries. This position is located in the Global Emerging Markets Team, within the Public Equities Section. The portfolio team consists of a Senior Investment Officer, four Investment Officers and one Investment Assistant, managing roughly USD 6 billion across 24 countries. The incumbent reports to the Senior Investment Officer. Responsibilities Assist the Senior Investment Officer in investing and managing assigned assets of the Fund in Global Emerging Markets equities, striving to achieve optimal returns while managing risk. Help implement investment strategies and monitor portfolio performance against the Fund’s objectives. Conduct thorough investment research, evaluating economic and market conditions, and develop specific investment recommendations. Utilize internal and external information sources, including primary research such as conferences, country visits, and company management interviews. Participate in discussions on asset allocation and investment recommendations. Provide ex‑post analytics on investment decisions and their impact on portfolio and security performance; prepare reports for quarterly portfolio reviews, Investment Committee meetings, and higher‑level reports. Prepare analyses and respond to ad‑hoc requests. Ensure compliance with OIM’s investment policy and guidelines. Attend investment conferences and seminars to engage with academia and industry experts. Present and discuss investment recommendations with the Senior Investment Officer. Stay informed on emerging portfolio‑management techniques and share insights with colleagues and the investment community. Perform other duties as required. Collect and analyze data to identify trends, presenting insights through visual reports to support data‑driven decision‑making. Education Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Business and Administration (MBA), Finance, Economics or related field is required. A first‑level university degree combined with at least two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Job – Specific Qualification Not available. Work Experience Minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in investment analysis and management in equities, with a focus on Emerging Market equities. Experience as an investment manager or in a financial institution is required. Desirable: experience using Credit Suisse Holt valuation engine, evaluating external fund managers, buy‑side experience, and at least two years of data analytics expertise. Languages Fluency in English is required. French is a working language of the UN Secretariat. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable. Assessment Evaluation may include an assessment exercise followed by a competency‑based interview.
