**CNC Machinist Mill/Lathe Operators/Programmers

**

**Position Summary

**

The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC machines to produce precision machined components that meet customer requirements and quality standards. This position involves reading engineering drawings, selecting tooling, performing inspections, and maintaining production efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment serving aerospace, medical, semiconductor, energy, and commercial industries.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities

**

• Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, work instructions, and specifications.

• Load and edit CNC programs as required.

• Select, install, and adjust tooling, work holding, and fixtures.

• Verify machine setup and first article parts prior to production.

• Perform in-process and final dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments.

• Monitor machine performance and make tool wear offsets as necessary.

• Maintain required production rates while ensuring product quality.

• Complete production records, inspection reports, and job travelers accurately.

• Identify machining problems and collaborate with supervisors, engineering, and quality personnel to implement corrective actions.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company and OSHA requirements.

• Follow ISO 9001, AS9100, customer, and company quality procedures.

• Assist in training new operators and machinists as needed.

• Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.

**Required Qualifications

**

• High school diploma or GED.

• Minimum 2 years of CNC machining experience (or equivalent training).

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

• Understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, feeds, and speeds.

• Knowledge of precision measuring equipment including:

• Basic mathematical skills including geometry and trigonometry.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

**Preferred Qualifications

**

• Experience in aerospace, medical, semiconductor, or defense manufacturing.

• Knowledge of GD&T.

• Experience with Haas, Mazak, Mori Seiki, Okuma, or similar CNC equipment.

• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.

• AS9100 and ISO 9001 manufacturing experience.

• Ability to perform machine setups from start to finish.
