With nearly 3 GW of solar and battery energy storage projects, we are well positioned for continued success in the rapidly growing clean energy sector.Civil Foreman Job Responsibilities:Crew Safety – Civil Foreman is to maintain a vigilant focus on safety training, safety awareness, and an overall culture of safety among all field employees. Avoidable accidents should be eliminated to the greatest extent possible.Customer Satisfaction/Experience – Civil Foreman should ensure that all crew members promote customer experience.Installation Quality – Although a somewhat subjective measure, the Civil Foreman must have a definite idea of what the quality standards should be across the company and enforce them rigorously. Correction notices should be minimized, and an overall culture of quality should be maintained.Installation Efficiency as Measured by the Installation Cost per Watt – Civil Foreman should be actively engaged in month-to-month monitoring of the installation cost per watt and actively identify measures to reduce these costs where practical and so long as it does not conflict with safety or installation quality.Production Capacity and Readiness – This is generally measured by an ongoing focus on the number of installed kilowatts per crew per day. Acceptable minimums, as well as desired goals should be discussed at recurring operations meetings in consultation with the Construction Manager and General Manager.Employee Morale and Retention – Civil Foreman should seek to maximize morale and retention as measured by crew member annual turnover. Single-digit turnover, measured by the number of individuals who voluntarily leave the company, is generally the desired norm, obviously with the lowest number possible being the goal.Training Level/Certification – Crew training and certification should be monitored by Civil Foreman and actively pursued. Civil Foreman should brief the GM and Construction Manager periodically, no less than quarterly.Vehicles and Stocked Materials – Civil Foreman is overall responsible for the readiness of the installation fleet and the levels of “truck stock.”Activities to Promote the Above Performance Goals:Weekly After-Action Reports – Document that briefly details any issues experienced on specific jobs in order to provide a feedback loop to the engineering and design portions of the operations team.Review of Upcoming Jobs – Civil Foreman and Crew Leads should be able to review jobs at least one week in advance to identify any issues pertaining to design, materials, labor, or other resources.Truck Stock/Equipment Storage – Civil Foreman, with the assistance of Crew Leads, should maintain visibility on levels of truck stock to eliminate as much as possible trips from projects to various supply outlets.Vehicle/Truck Stock – Civil Foreman should have a program to ensure vehicles are subjected to routine maintenance. Civil Foreman should make routine inspection of storage areas and truck stock.Meetings – Civil Foreman should conduct routine meetings to train crew members on company accounting controls pertaining to fuel, truck stock, or other accountable items.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.Qualifications and Requirements:Experience installing or managing solar PV construction projectsStrong understanding of grid-tied PV system designPrevious field management or foreman experienceStrong leadership skills – ability to organize, utilize and motivate team members quickly to respond to changes in the construction schedule and scopeAbility to read, understand, and edit (red-line) electrical and structural plansGood at problem solving and implementing site-specific design modificationsStrong understanding of electrical wiring, theory, and the tradeStrong understanding of the NEC Code and the ability to reference the code as requiredKnowledge of Universal Building Codes and building materials and techniquesExperience supervising and managing subcontractors in other tradesExperience working with city/county permitting offices and inspectorsProficiency on a computer in MS Office (Emphasis on Excel, Outlook, and web-based data)Ability to work long hours as required for the installation crews to work to optimal efficiency.100% field work and must be willing to travel to various locations as required within and outside of New Mexico.Must have a clean driving recordEqual Opportunity EmployerGridworks is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and sustainable workplace.
