About the Opportunity

Our client, a leading global capital markets institution, is seeking a Senior Production Support Analyst to join its Trading Technology Operations team in New York.

This individual will provide hands-on support to institutional equities trading desks while helping support the implementation and ongoing evolution of a new proprietary Sell-Side Order Management System (OMS).

We are seeking someone who has worked directly alongside institutional traders on the trade floor, understands the complexities of sell-side order management, and can bridge the gap between trading desk functionality and underlying technology.

This is not a traditional application monitoring or FIX connectivity support role. The ideal candidate understands how traders use an OMS throughout the order lifecycle, can independently investigate issues, and takes ownership of resolving problems in a fast-paced trading environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct, hands-on production support to institutional equities traders, working closely with the trading desk to troubleshoot order management, execution, and workflow issues.
• Support complex sell-side trading workflows, including high-touch and low-touch execution, client-specific configurations, order routing, and desk-level functionality.
• Investigate issues across the full order lifecycle, understanding the trader's intended action, expected system behavior, actual results, and potential points of failure.
• Troubleshoot OMS and FIX-related issues, including message flow, order rejects, connectivity, session management, and routing discrepancies.
• Translate trader-reported issues into clear, actionable technical investigations, documenting business context, findings, and steps to reproduce.
• Partner with developers, product owners, and infrastructure teams to investigate defects, validate functionality, and coordinate resolutions.
• Independently investigate new functionality, configurations, and workflows within a rapidly evolving proprietary OMS environment.
• Support system configuration, functional testing, QA/UAT activities, deployments, and production readiness.
• Leverage Linux, application logs, and available troubleshooting tools to investigate issues and validate system behavior.
• Take ownership of assigned issues and deliverables, proactively communicating progress, identifying blockers, and driving tasks through completion.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in Production Support, Trading Technology Support, or Application Support within institutional equities trading.
• Direct experience supporting institutional equities traders on a trading floor, preferably within a large investment bank or global capital markets institution.
• Strong understanding of sell-side OMS functionality and the end-to-end institutional equities order lifecycle.
• Experience supporting high-touch and low-touch trading workflows, including client-specific order handling, routing, and execution requirements.
• Hands-on experience with a sell-side OMS ( such as Fidessa, FlexTrade, TRAFiX, Broadridge, or a comparable proprietary platform ).
• Strong knowledge of FIX Protocol, order messaging, connectivity, and trade flow troubleshooting.
• Ability to investigate and clearly articulate trading issues from both a functional/business and technical perspective.
• Working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments, application logs, and production troubleshooting.
• Demonstrated ability to independently learn complex systems, take ownership of issues, and operate effectively with limited oversight.
• Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with traders, developers, and senior technology stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience supporting Delta One, hedging, or other specialized equities trading desks.
• Exposure to OMS implementations, platform migrations, or proprietary trading system development.
• Experience with Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, or release management.
• Familiarity with SQL, scripting, or other technical investigation tools.
• Experience supporting FIX onboarding, client certifications, and complex order configuration.
• Experience participating in functional testing and validating new trading workflows.

What Makes Someone Successful In This Role:

We're looking for someone who is comfortable being the first point of contact when something goes wrong on the trading desk. This person should be able to sit with a trader, understand the problem being reported, investigate independently, and either resolve the issue or provide the technical team with the context needed to move toward resolution.

It requires strong trading domain knowledge, resourcefulness, accountability, and the ability to navigate ambiguity without needing constant direction. The right person will be comfortable taking initiative, learning new functionality independently, and contributing to a team building and supporting a new trading platform.
