Basic accounting and detailed clerical skills are required. Strong customer service skills are a must. Manage accounts according to third party payer rules and regulations. Understand medical and third party payer terminology. REPORTS TO: JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: • Displays the technical ability to direct, log, load, and process the electronic remittance (835) from participating payers. • Prints and works the 835 edit report to ensure the electronic receipts are posted and balanced • Manage unidentified receipts appropriately. • Make accurate and complete documentation on visits. • Take corrective action when errors are noted on accounts. • Maintains daily reciepts summary spreadsheet to inform PFS Management of cash. • Conduct necessary research of accounts to identify where payments should be posted. • Utilizes time effectively, organizes tasks and duties to minimize the amount of cash held in un- posted accounts • Understand proper plan attachment to manage cash for accurate reporting. • Utilizes correct transaction codes to ensure accurate reporting as receipts are posted to visits EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school graduate or equivalent required. REQUIRED LICENSURES/CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATIONS: N/A SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Highly technical, troubleshooting skills are required. INTERACTION WITH OTHER DEPARTMENTS AND OTHER RELATIONSHIPS: This position requires interaction with most other UMC departments, medical staff, and technical personnel at TTUHSC and PNS. This position also deals directly with technical support analysts employed by contracted hardware and software vendors. PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES: Work is of medium demand; walking, sitting and standing most of the time while on-duty. Occasional lifting of equipment is required. Adequate hand/eye coordination and fine motor skills required for typing. Talking and hearing is essential in dealing with co-workers and customers. ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Work in a well-lighted, heated and ventilated building.
