Wind Hub Technician - OK 2 (Apache, OK Area)

Job Description Summary GE’s Vernova Onshore Wind Services team is growing fast and will continue to rise steadily in the coming years. As we grow and develop new and existing wind sites, Digital Services needs field teams with strong leadership, willingness to learn and grow. Training, safety, and career progression lead our initiatives. The Wind Hub Technician is a critical role to maintain optimal function and output at wind sites by working daily on turbine operations, maintenance, safety, quality control and warranty repairs. The technician partners with the Site Lead and Manager to execute contract requirements and timelines and ensures alignment with GE excellence. Essential Responsibilities Work with site leadership to execute contractual obligations per customer requirements and activities set forth daily, including electrical and mechanical equipment used in the GE wind turbine generator. Perform maintenance, repair or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions. Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch & variable speed turbines. Help in all areas of site operations as directed by manager with minimal supervision. Perform some diagnostic electrical analysis. Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures. Work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary. Qualifications / Requirements High School Diploma or GED. Minimum of 1 year’s experience as a Wind Technician or Wind Mechanic. OR Minimum of 2 years of work experience inclusive of hydraulic, electrical, and experience using basic power hydraulic tools, passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment, and basic computer skills. Requirements Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Ability and willingness to lift repetitive weight of up to 45 lbs. unassisted and climb towers of 300+ feet regularly. Meet specified manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300 lbs including required gear. Understand electrical schematic drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations. Ability and willingness to work in a range of environments including industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and power industry facilities. Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules and on-call per site needs. Desired Characteristics Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field from an accredited college or university. Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical / Electronic field. Ability to work with a wide variety of personnel at all levels inside and outside of the Wind Farm. Wind turbine experience. Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision. Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience. Experience using hydraulic power tools. Experience with heavy equipment required for facility maintenance and knowledge of crane and rigging requirements. Location & Working Conditions This is not a remote position. The work location includes all wind sites within Oklahoma Hub 2. Employees are expected to work at all sites within this hub and report to any site as assigned by manager. Compensation For U.S. based positions, base pay ranges from $31.68 to $42.20 per hour. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
