The Position

The Customer Area Near Patient Care (NPC) unites the portfolios Point of Care and Diabetes Care of Roche. With our passion we bring tests closer to patients and empower people to better monitor their own health. Within NPC Operations we are globally responsible for the end-to-end production of solutions for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), blood glucose measurement (BGM) and insulin delivery (IDS) as well as for point-of-care (POC) products. Our most important internal production sites are Mannheim in Germany and Indianapolis in the USA.

As CxM Finished Goods we are part of Manufacturing Science and Technology in the area of NPC Operations with around 25 colleagues in Mannheim and Rotkreuz. For our CGM Accu-Check SmartGuide we are responsible for the global setup and operation as well as the external production stage. Together with our strategic equipment and production partners we develop robust processes and plants. Through a high standardization we ensure competitive manufacturing costs and a reliable production. We thus ensure the supply of compliant products in quality, time and cost for the current and future product generations and maintain the product throughout the entire product life cycle.

Your Role

As Head of CxM Finished Goods - Projects you will lead a global team of technical project managers. Your team is responsible for the industrialization of R&D concepts into standardized and robust scalable plant designs that are suitable for global mass production and ensure manufacturable product design (Design for Manufacturability). You act at the interfaces between equipment manufacturers, external operators (Contract Manufacturer) and internal departments (e.g. R&D, Purchasing, Quality, internal production) and are responsible for capacity expansion projects specifically for injection molding parts and the final assembly of our CGM products. You are significantly involved in the setup and further development of the supplier ecosystem, actively maintain an external network of technology partners and are well familiar with the relevant industrial standards and trends. In addition, your team implements product care projects in close cooperation with the product team for product, process and cost optimizations. You define efficient processes and continuously develop them to reliably and efficiently deliver project contents and optimally utilize the capabilities of the supplier industry.

Your Responsibilities

• Team Leadership and Local Contact Person: You lead the "CxM Finished Goods - Projects" team disciplinarily and professionally. Through forward-looking demand planning you shape a high-performance unit, identify and promote talents specifically and ensure through continuous qualification of employees that the competencies in the team steadily grow with the technological requirements. As a local contact person in Mannheim you create a trusting and motivating working environment and maintain a network with the local interfaces.

• Excellence in Project Management: You are responsible for the professional management of the entire project portfolio of CxM Finished Goods. You ensure transparent planning and reliable adherence to the quality of the contents and timelines. Through efficient risk and resource management you ensure cost efficiency throughout the entire project lifecycle.

• Optimization of Work Processes: You define and manage efficient processes and methodologies for project implementation in compliance with regulatory requirements of medical technology (e.g. GMP, ISO 13485, MDR, FDA) and ensure the completion of the necessary qualification and validation phases (DQ, IQ, OQ, PQ). Insights from ongoing projects and operations are continuously incorporated into existing best practices, ensuring a reliable and cost-effective project execution. You also drive the development and optimization of the contractual landscape at the interfaces to operators and subcontractors to optimally utilize the supplier industry and ensure Roche's interests.

• Technical Expertise and Strategic Consulting: With your solid technical competence you accompany the technical content of the projects. You evaluate complex technical issues, ensure the quality of the solutions and ensure that the technological implementation always meets the high requirements of modern production systems.

• Interface Management and Supplier Development: You promote a close, partnership-oriented cooperation with all stakeholders along the value chain and external partners to minimize friction and ensure a seamless transition from concepts to operational operations. You assess the performance of our suppliers and the monitoring of goal achievement, lead improvement measures and ensure their implementation. You apply this experience in the search and selection of new suppliers and manufacturing methods and define and implement manufacturing and testing concepts for future product generations to optimally utilize the capabilities of our partners and ensure optimal value creation for Roche and our patients.

Your Profile

• Completed technical or natural science degree, ideally with a master's degree in the field of mechanical engineering, process engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, physics or similar

• Several years of leadership experience in an intercultural environment with the ability to inspire, develop and empower a team

• Several years of experience in project or program management (including PMI certification) for the development, construction and industrial scaling of complex assembly and automation systems (preferably for large-scale production)

• Proven experience in a highly regulated environment (e.g. GMP, ISO 13485, FDA, MDR) as well as secure handling of the qualification of production facilities (DQ, IQ, OQ, PQ).

• Proven know-how in "Design for Manufacturing/Assembly" (DfM/DfA) for the successful and cost-effective transition of R&D concepts into series-ready mass production.

• In-depth knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes and how to use processes such as bonding, welding, hot stamping, injection molding, PCBA manufacturing, testing processes (in-process control, incoming inspection, release testing, leak testing, vision control, mass testing, measuring instrument qualification, measuring method validation, etc.)

• Analytical strength, hands-on mentality, enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration and a talent for clearly and comprehensibly conveying complex topics

• Fluent English and German language skills
