Position Overview
We are seeking a customer-focused and detail-oriented Medical Records Clerk to support daily clinical operations. This role serves as one of the first points of contact for patients and is responsible for patient registration, payment collection, and maintaining accurate electronic medical records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and experience working in a healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Register patients accurately within the electronic medical records system.
- Collect patient payments and maintain accurate payment records.
- Prepare, update, and maintain electronic medical records in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Gather and verify patient information to ensure accurate record creation and maintenance.
- Provide exceptional customer service and create a positive patient experience.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information.
- Utilize computer systems and healthcare applications to support daily operations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 6 months of experience registering patients in an electronic medical records system within a healthcare setting.
- Equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or related work experience may substitute for minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience gathering patient information and creating medical records.
- Cashiering or cash-handling experience.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Certification as a Public Health Worker or Community Health Worker from an accredited institution.
- Candidates currently enrolled in a Public Health or Community Health Worker program and eligible to obtain certification within six months are encouraged to apply.
