Arms Wide is a child and family‑serving organization with a 47‑year history that is deeply committed to transforming the lives of children in need of safe and nurturing permanent families in Houston and South Texas. Responsibilities The Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Recruiter maintains a caseload of a minimum of 12 active youth and engages in child‑centered recruitment on the youths’ behalf. The WWK Recruiter builds a relationship with the youth on their caseload and actively pursues locating a permanent family for the youth. A key strategy in the child‑focused recruitment model is to explore the child’s history and contact people with whom the child has a preexisting relationship (such as relative, neighbors, mentors, teachers, pastors, etc.) who may become potential adoptive parents or sources of information to find a permanent home for that child. Finding a family who the child already knows can increase the child’s comfort with and openness to adoption. Instead of working to find the right child for adoptive parents, the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Recruiter strives to find the right adoptive parents for a child. Qualifications and Skills Arms Wide is looking for someone who is: Motivated to support children and families Energetic Team player with an optimistic outlook Experience & Skills Required Bachelor’s degree in a related human services field preferred. Flexibility to work evenings and occasional weekends Commitment to work from a strengths‑based and/or youth development perspective Belief that all children deserve legal permanency Highly motivated self‑starter Knowledgeable regarding the impact of trauma and trauma‑informed practices Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple projects and cultivate relationships Demonstrated ability to cultivate strong working relationships with diverse populations, including public agency staff Willingness to engage in cold calling people identified as current and previous connections of the youth Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience & Skills Preferred Degree in social work or 2 years post‑graduate direct experience with youth preferred Experience in the foster care and adoption field Benefits Medical, dental, and vision plans for employees and eligible dependents 401(k) retirement plan with match Paid life insurance Generous vacation plan 8 paid holidays each year (10 days) 2 paid "Employee Choice" days each year Convenient central location with free parking Employee Assistance Program Programs, resources, and benefits eligibility vary based on scheduled hours worked and length of service at Arms Wide.
