Job Summary Ensure safe, effective, and efficient daily operation of the Ultrasound Division in the Department of Radiology.Incumbent has measurable impact on operational effectiveness, attainment of department objectives, and service to customers, both internal and external. This position will act as a liaison for all ultrasound sites of service (Troy, Ypsilanti, University Hospital, Taubman, C&W, Pavilion, Northville, Livonia, Canton, East Ann Arbor, West Ann Arbor, Briarwood, Brighton, and any future locations) and will also include extensive involvement with Michigan Medicine scheduling staff, technical staff, and Radiologists. Position is day shift with after-hours support for 24/7 urgent needs. Responsibilities* Provide leadership, supervision, and direction for technical and non-technical diagnostic ultrasound staff. Utilize excellent organizational skills in prioritizing timely completion of tasks in the best interest of patient care and flow in a fast-paced Ultrasound operation. Maximizes the use of available resources to reflect the standards of patient care and productivity while partnering with physicians and staff to obtain high-quality examinations. Responsible for the daily coordination of the Ultrasound division. Resolve daily operational problems including patient flow, throughput, obtaining clinical information, exam scheduling and staffing for efficient department operations. Suggest improvement opportunities in all department areas as they arise. Partner with supervisors and management to develop and maintain technologist work and vacation schedule to include weekend and holiday rotations. Complete payroll as assigned by manager. Partner with the management for ultrasound candidate interviews, selection, and the hiring process. Ensure new staff receive adequate training and ensure completion of full onboarding processes Suggest and implement disciplinary action when the need arises. Develop and oversee employee performance improvement plans. Perform a significant role in writing and presenting staff performance evaluations. Meet the needs of the patients in a cost-effective manner. Assisting the manager and Director to ensure department functions are within budget and follow hospital policies and regulatory agencies. Maintaining effective relationships with referring clinics and physicians. The supervisor serves as a role model for exemplary customer service and endeavors to coach and motivate staff to excel in the Radiology philosophy of upholding the gold standard in customer service performance. Required Qualifications* Current ARDMS certification in at least Abdomen and Ob-Gyn. Five years of progressive ultrasound experience. Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and leadership experience. Current BLS Certification Desired Qualifications* Must be able to problem-solve using critical thinking skills and good judgment. Demonstrated ability to have a neutral perspective with staff, following all established policies, procedures and guidelines with actions and responses. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to positively represent the department to internal and external customers. Effectively prioritize workload to meet deadlines in a timely manner. Demonstrated excellent leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Proven leadership qualities with the ability to foresee potential problems and implement solutions independently. Demonstrate resourcefulness in order to initiate creative solutions in daily processes or in volatile circumstances. Demonstrated excellence in technical skills and clinical ultrasound knowledge. Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative Responsible for performing ultrasound exams according to department protocols. Proficiency with computer systems and PACS.
