Job Description We are recruiting an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to provide patient‑centered, specialized, evidence‑based care across the continuum through an interprofessional approach to treatment, research, education and advocacy. A Brief Overview The APP is a board‑certified provider who assumes responsibility and accountability for health stabilization, promotion, and maintenance of acute and chronic illness or injury. The role contributes to the mission of the organization by ensuring compassionate and safe care within the scope of practice defined by Nebraska state statutes, administrative code, and organization bylaws. Essential Functions Provide safe, comprehensive, and compassionate clinical care. Assess patients, synthesize and analyze data, order diagnostic tests and therapeutic treatments, and evaluate clinical outcomes. Seek and integrate the perspectives of interprofessional team members in developing and implementing the plan of care. Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; prescribe medications and complex medical regimes while monitoring for desired and adverse outcomes, specific to infants/children with high risk, complex acute, critical, or chronic conditions. Apply evidence‑based medicine pertinent to neonatal/pediatric populations. Continuously evaluate the relationships among access, cost, quality, safety and their influence on healthcare outcomes and sustainability. Assume leadership to establish and monitor standards of practice and to improve patient care through sharing knowledge, leading teams, and developing programs. Consider child’s development, family’s readiness and resources when translating health information, education, and support. Demonstrate understanding of internal and external rules, regulations, and legislation as it relates to APP practice, licensure, certification, and billing compliance. Maintain accurate log of credentialed procedures performed and demonstrate competency when performing credentialed procedures/specialty skills. Advocate for the needs of children and families across the health care continuum, ensuring the best patient/family experience possible. Coordinate care per CMS and/or program guidelines and complete all required education per CMS guidelines. Maintain regular attendance at work. Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section. Education Qualifications Education required by the Department of Health and Human Services – Regulation and Licensure Credentialing Division as represented by APRN licensure in the State of Nebraska. Experience Qualifications 3–5 years experience in Infectious Disease preferred. Prior Advanced Practice Provider experience in pediatrics preferred. Skills and Abilities Satisfy all relevant criteria and qualifications outlined in the Medical Staff Policy on Allied Health Professional, required to be credentialed. Maintain practice agreement with service of specialty and practice within the framework of the respective scope of practice. Be knowledgeable in billing regulation practices, including documentation requirements and CPT coding regulations. Understand physical, mental, developmental, emotional, and social needs of neonate, infant, toddler, pre‑school, school‑age, and adolescent patients. Maintain current knowledge and skill level in the field through reading journals, networking, and attending conferences or seminars. Be able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure, and be able to perform under stressful conditions, demonstrating prioritizing skills. Display strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work effectively with multiple disciplines. Be self‑directed, with minimum supervision, and detail oriented. Licenses and Certifications CPNP‑AC – Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner – Acute Care, required upon hire. BLS – Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association, required upon hire. PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 180 days required. DEA License within 30 days required. ATLS – Advanced Trauma Life Support (only if working in Gen Surg) within 1 year required. ACLS (only if working in Cardiology or CT Surgery) within 180 days required.
