Content & Communications Manager
AEG Presents
ABOUT THE COLUMBUS FURY
The Columbus Fury are a professional women's volleyball team competing in Major League Volleyball (MLV) - the premier professional women's volleyball league in North America. Women's sports is experiencing a genuine cultural and commercial inflection point, and the Fury are building one of the flagship franchises in that story. We are entering the 2027 season with new leadership, a clear vision, and the ambition to build something that Central Ohio hasn't seen before in professional women's sports. THE ROLE
The Content & Communications Manager is the Fury's lead in-house storyteller and day-to-day voice - owning our social channels, content calendar, and video production while supporting communications, email, web, and campaign execution. Overall marketing and content strategy is developed in partnership with our agency partner; this role brings that strategy to life through a steady stream of high-quality social, web, email, and video content - identifying stories, creating content, and keeping the Fury relevant and engaging day in and day out.
This is a senior, hands-on content role with meaningful communications responsibility - not a posting queue and not a coordinator seat. You own the channels, run the content calendar, drive the editorial agenda, and are comfortable creating content yourself - from capturing a timely moment on a phone to helping produce a polished interview series. You work closely with our agency partner to translate strategy into execution, while bringing your own ideas, instincts, and creativity to the work. If you're a true multi-tool content professional who can spot a story, develop the idea, create the content, and bring it to life across channels, this is the job.
This role is based in our Columbus, Ohio office. Occasional remote flexibility is available, particularly during the off-season. WHAT YOU'LL OWN:
CONTENT CREATION & STORYTELLING
REQUIRED
We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.

CONTENT CREATION & STORYTELLING
- Create compelling photo and video content across Fury channels, with the ability to independently capture and edit highquality content when needed
- Develop and produce recurring content franchises - including player features, behind-the-scenes storytelling,
- interviews, match recaps and highlights - working with the Creative Designer, freelancers, and other production resources as appropriate.
- Identify and develop stories proactively - recognizing compelling player, team, community, and behind-the-scenesmoments without waiting for an assignment.
- Create and edit platform-native content - including Reels, TikToks, Shorts, photography, graphics, and other formats - tailored to how fans consume content on each channel.
- Capture photo and video at practices, matches, and community events; direct match-day freelancers when extran coverage is needed
- Coordinate on-camera talent, scripting, and interview prep for player and staff features
- Maintain an organized, accessible library of content assets and finished work; publish and repurpose content across channels and formats to maximize its value
- Own and grow all Columbus Fury social channels - Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, YouTube, and emerging platforms
- Run the day-to-day content calendar in partnership with our agency partner, publishing consistently
- Write copy that sounds like a person, not a press release, in the Fury's voice
- Manage the community in real time - respond to comments and messages, and execute an agreed approach for handling negative fan communication
- Use platform analytics and audience insights to continually improve content - identifying what drives reach,
- engagement, follower growth, ticket interest, and fan connection, and reporting results to leadership and our agency partner
WEBSITE, EMAIL & CAMPAIGN EXECUTION - Keep the Fury website current - blog, schedule, roster, and promotional content
- Build and maintain the Fury blog / owned-content hub - educational, explainer-style pieces (e.g., how roster
- development works in MLV, how the league operates) that support the education layer and can be repurposed into social posts
- Execute email marketing in partnership with ticketing and our agency partner - including season-ticket and single-game campaigns, newsletters, and fan lifecycle messaging - and track performance
- Execute the promotional and campaign calendar (single-game themes, launches, fan incentives) developed with our agency partner, from launch through reporting
- Produce and publish agreed digital content deliverables for corporate partners in coordination with the partnerships team
- Support our agency partner, who leads media strategy and execution - pitching, media outreach, and coordinating interviews sit with the agency team; this role plugs into that effort rather than replacing it
- Own day-of match recap communications - write and publish game recaps, results, and stat highlights across social and web
- Provide after-hours and overflow media coverage when the agency team needs hands on deck - capture, respond, and keep things moving outside standard coverage windows
- Support day-to-day communications needs including interview preparation, talking points, game notes, announcements, community updates, and other basic press materials in coordination with our agency partner
- Flag emerging issues early and escalate anything sensitive to leadership and the agency partner quickly
- Partner with our agency team to translate the Fury's marketing and communications strategy into compelling day-to-day content and execution
- Coordinate closely with the Creative Designer so content and design stay unified across channels
- Publish everything on-brand and on-schedule, protecting a still-young brand from anything off-voice or overclaiming
- Flag opportunities and risks early - you're the Fury's eyes and ears on what's landing with fans
- Serve as the Fury's primary point of contact with our agency partner - the day-to-day liaison who chases down internal approvals, coordinates scheduling and timelines, and routes feedback in both directions to keep work moving
REQUIRED
- 4+ years of professional experience producing content, managing social channels, or working in a comparable digital storytelling role
- Demonstrated ability to create strong visual content, including capturing and editing short-form, platform-native video; comfortable working hands-on when the moment requires it
- Excellent writing and storytelling instincts - from social copy to game recaps and press materials
- Strong editorial judgment and an instinct for what makes a compelling story - particularly in a fast-moving sports or live-event environment
- Strong command of social platform best practices and algorithms, and comfort capturing content in the moment
- Communications or PR experience - comfortable writing game recaps, prepping talent, and supporting the agency's media efforts
- Self-directed operator who can take a strategic brief from an agency partner and execute without day-to-day supervision
- Proficiency with social scheduling tools, a CMS, an email platform, and analytics platforms
- Able to work all home match days, special event, evenings, and weekends in a live-event environment
- Experience in sports, athletics, or live entertainment content
- Experience with professional video production and editing tools (Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or comparable)
- Media relations or public relations background, including media-training experience
- Email marketing platform experience (Klaviyo, Mailchimp, or similar)
- Motion/graphics familiarity to collaborate tightly with the Creative Designer on the video and content push
- Knowledge of and passion for volleyball or women's sports; Columbus market knowledge
