All candidates that are offered employment will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.The Phlebotomists is responsible for collecting blood and other specimens from patients. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills to ensure accurate specimen collection while maintaining patient comfort and safety.Responsibilities and DutiesSpecimen CollectionPerform venipuncture and capillary (finger or heel stick) procedures to obtain blood samplesCollect urine or other specimens as required following established protocolsPatient Care & CommunicationGreet patients professionally and verify patient identity using approved identifiersExplain procedures clearly and calmly to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperationProvide compassionate care to patients of all ages, including children and individuals with special needsSample ManagementAccurately label, process, store, and transport specimens to the laboratoryEnsure specimen integrity by following proper handling and chain-of-custody proceduresSafety & SanitizationMaintain a clean, sterile, and organized work environmentFollow infection control standards and OSHA regulationsSafely dispose of needles, sharps, and biohazardous wasteDocumentationAccurately enter patient information, test codes, collection times, and other required data into electronic or paper systemsAdditional ResponsibilitiesObtain and record vital signs such as blood pressure and pulse, as requiredAssist with training or mentoring new staffMonitor and restock supplies and report inventory needsQualifications and SkillsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredCompletion of an accredited phlebotomy training program preferredPhlebotomy certification required or preferred, depending on state regulations and organizational requirementsKnowledge of venipuncture and capillary collection techniquesFamiliarity with laboratory tests and specimen requirementsUnderstanding how medications, diet, or medical conditions may affect test resultsStrong communication skills with a patient-focused approachEmpathy, patience, and professionalism when working with anxious or nervous individualsPhysical requirements:The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; and reach forward with hands and arms.The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, or crouch.May be exposed to patients with infectious diseases.Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times.Required to work evening and weekend shiftsMust be able to withstand physical and emotional stress.Our culture and values are every employee's responsibility: The needs of our patient come first S.P.I.R.I.TStewardshipPatient & Population Focused Health CareIntegrityRespectInnovationTeamworkBenefits:Health, Dental, Vision benefitsLife Insurance401k with a company match up to 6%Paid Time Off#EFM1
